Dominic Richard Harrison, also known as YUNGBLUD when he performs, combines alternative rock with hip-hop and discusses issues such as mental illness and politics. He hails from Doncaster, England, and cites Arctic Monkeys and Eminem as influences.
Harrison was up surrounded by music. He has stated in various interviews that his parents handed him a ukulele mere days after he was born. His father had a guitar store, and his grandpa was a member of the band T. Rex.
Before he was known as YUNGBLUD, he went by the name Harrison and released peppy and acoustic tunes like “Miss Those Days.” A record label approached Harrison while he was in his late teens. He did everything they required of him in the hopes of having a great career, but he eventually left the label to produce the music he truly desired.
In January 2018, he released a self-titled EP. His debut album, “21ST CENTURY LIABILITY,” was released barely six months later. His second EP, The Underrated Youth, was released in October 2019, and his second album, strange!, was released in December 2020.
