Thug released his first mixtape, I Came from Nothing, in 2011. He’s released a few more since then. 1017 Records released his first mixtape, 1017 Thug, in early 2013, to widespread acclaim.
Young Thug rose to prominence in 2014 with his singles “Stoner” and “Danny Glover,” as well as guest appearances on T.I.’s “About the Money,” Tyga’s “Hookah,” and Rich Gang’s “Lifestyle.” He signed with Lyor Cohen’s 300 Entertainment the same year and worked on the mixtape Rich Gang: Tha Tour Pt.
In 2015, he released a number of compilation albums, including Barter 6 and two volumes of Slime Season. In 2016, Thug released three mixtapes: I’m Up, Slime Season 3, and Jeffery.
Thug appeared on Camila Cabello’s song “Havana,” which became his first Billboard Hot 100 number one. Slime Language is a collection of songs released by his label, YSL Records, in 2018. He received the Grammy Award for Song of the Year in 2019 for his work on the song “This Is America.”
