Wellington College will open three new South East Asian schools in the next few years – in Singapore, Indonesia and Malaysia – through a regional partnership with Singaporean businessman Peter Lim. At least one school is expected to open by 2025.
The new schools will join the Wellington College International (WCI) family of schools, which includes schools in China and Thailand, and a first school in India opening in 2023. Each school will enrol 2,000 students and offer early years, primary and secondary programmes following the English National Curriculum, and culminating in the IB Diploma Programme.
Wellington College joins a growing list of British schools that have set up in Singapore; Dulwich College (Singapore) opened in 2014 and The Perse School, Brighton College and North London Collegiate School all opened Singapore campuses in 2021-22.
Located in Berkshire, England, Wellington College (pictured above) has a reputation for being progressive and innovative. Founded in 1853, the school is one of the top English co-educational day and boarding schools for the IB programme; it also has outstanding results at A Level.
The name ‘Wellington’ has a reputation for its rigorous academic curriculum. As well as fully embracing the educational ethos and traditional values of the 150-year-old Wellington brand, the three new schools are expected to build on their international links to become ‘global campuses’.
WCI said the upcoming schools will meet rising demand by expats and local families looking for “international schools like Wellington that offer well-rounded academic experiences and unrivalled opportunities.”
