Tegan and Sara have released a video for “Yellow,” the second single from their new album Crybaby. Their 10th studio album, which will be their first since joining Mom + Pop, will be released on October 21. Check out “Yellow’s” video, which was directed by Mark Myers and is a tribute to Coldplay’s video for their song of the same name from 2000.
Tegan and Sara and John Congleton worked together to make Crybaby at Studio Litho in Seattle and at Sargent Recorders in Los Angeles. In a statement, Sara Quin talked about her new single “Yellow.”
The two also co-created and executive produced the Amazon Freevee (formerly IMDb TV) series High School, which is based on their memoir of the same name and will come out later this year. Hey I’m Just Like You was Tegan and Sara’s last album, which came out in 2019. In April, the song “Fucking Up What Matters” was released as a Crybaby preview.
Under the name Plunk, Tegan and Sara began to play guitar and write songs together in 1997. Under the name “Sara and Tegan,” they put out their first album, “Under Feet Like Ours,” on their own in 1999.
Except for one song on their sixth studio album, Sainthood, which is called “Paperback Head,” the two musicians wrote all of their songs on their own.
Tegan and Sara are both out as gay and fight for the rights of LGBTQ+ people. They started The Tegan and Sara Foundation in December 2016 to work for “economic justice, health, and representation for LGBTQ girls and women.” In 2019, they wrote a book together called “High School.” It was a tell-all memoir about their coming-of-age as queer teens in the 1990s. Then a TV show would be made from it.
