Japanese–British singer-songwriter and model, Rina Sawayama unreleased forthcoming second studio album “Hold The Girl” leaked online.
Rina Sawayama has released her second album, which comes after her critically acclaimed debut, “Sawayama,” which came out in 2020. “Hold the Girl” will come out on September 2 through Dirty Hit.
Along with the news of her new album, Rina also shared its first single, “This Hell,” an electric country-pop song.
“This Hell” starts with a tribute to Shania Twain. Rina whispers, “Let’s go, girls,” and then the first verse starts. Rina sings funny lines about gay pop stars in between glam-rock riffs, like “Fuck what they did to Britney, Lady Di, and Whitney.”
The song was written by Rina, Vixen, Paul Epworth, and Lauren Aquilina. It was co-produced by Paul Epworth (who has worked with Adele and Rihanna) and Clarence Clarity, who worked on “Sawayama” (Demi Lovato, Little Mix).
The upcoming “Hold the Girl” album was written and recorded over the last year and a half with help from Clarity, Aquilina, Epworth, Stuart Price (Dua Lipa, the Killers, Madonna), and Marcus Andersson, all of whom have worked with the band before (Demi Lovato, Ashnikko). People say that “Hold the Girl” is a change in her style that will bring together influences from all over the pop world to make a bold and honest statement.
