American rapper and singer, Austin Richard Post, known professionally as Post Malone unreleased song imminent off his upcoming project “Twelve Carat Toothache,” reportedly leaked online.
Post Malone has confirmed the title of his new album, twelve carat toothache, in a new Billboard profile, following a social media update in November that sparked fan speculation. Malone claims that the new album’s release is “imminent.”
Malone’s manager, Dre London, claimed earlier this month that Republic Records has been delaying its release due to its brevity. If the rumored 45-minute project is true, it will be the shortest LP Post has ever released, and he told Billboard that the label wanted it to be longer to boost its streaming numbers.
“Trying to cram 20 to 25 songs in doesn’t work,” Post explained. “When I talk to the label, they say, ‘Oh, you’re not going to stream as much if you have less songs,’ but the whole point is that you don’t want to compromise your art or your gut vibe on anything.”
According to the profile, the Grapevine, Texas-born rapper/singer suffered from creative paralysis after releasing his most recent album, Hollywood’s Bleeding, in 2019 and subsequently relocating from Los Angeles to Utah. “”You’re thinking about everything at once, and it’s fucking overload,” he told the magazine. “A lot is riding on the music. There’s a lot riding on the ability to keep writing songs. And it’s difficult to do because you’re thinking, ‘Fuck — I’ve already talked about everything.’ And then you run out of ideas, which is terrifying.”
Despite this, he was able to overcome his writer’s block and complete twelve carat toothache. And this time, he promises it will be soon.
About Twelve Carat Toothache:
“Twelve Carat Toothache” is the upcoming fourth studio album from hip-hop artist Post Malone. It will follow “Hollywood’s Bleeding” which was released in 2019. Known for his introspective songwriting and variegated vocal styles, Malone has gained acclaim for blending genres and subgenres of pop, hip hop, R&B, and trap. His stage name was derived from inputting his birth name into a rap name generator.
In the interview, Post Malone divulged why he has not released any new music in the past two years. The artist moved out to Utah for some peace and quiet and hoped that it would benefit his creativity, “Here there are very few distractions.” He noted that he needed a place to recharge as the pandemic left him anxious and he felt he was “on the brink of burnout.” Post Malone added, “You think about everything at the same time, and it’s f***king overload. There’s a lot riding on the music. There’s a lot riding on just being able to keep making songs. And that’s hard to do because you’re like, ‘F**k…I already talked about everything.’ And you kind of run out of ideas, and that’s scary shit.”
Rumors about the project began in April 2020 when, during the middle of his Nirvana tribute concert, Post announced work had begun on the next album. As time elapsed during the COVID-19 pandemic and social reform movements spread across the United States and the world at large, Post told the Wall Street Journal in July 2020 that his mission with the album was to “give people hope and hopefully uplift people’s spirits” while also experimenting with new sounds.
Post also discussed how he thought the spark he once had for his music would never return, revealing that he struggled with writer’s block for a long time, “I used to love playing the guitar — I hardly play the guitar anymore. I used to love making beats.” It took him a while to rediscover his passion and find his way back to his next album, twelve carat toothache, “There was a switch that flipped, and it felt like I was making Stoney. I lost that, and the hardest part is getting it back. It ebbs and flows. It’s figuring out: ‘Just because I’m not inspired to do it at the moment doesn’t mean I’m giving up.’”
In April of 2021, Post Malone’s manager, Dre London, took to Instagram to hint that Post might drop two albums in 2021 while also suggesting the album name was going to be released the following week. The latter never happened, putting doubt into the idea Post could release two albums in 2021, but a release is expected for one album in the second half of 2021.
Post Malone’s new album is expected to be approximately 45 minutes, his shortest LP to date. He shared with Billboard that his label wanted him to make his album longer so that it would boost streaming numbers. Post shared, “Trying to shove 20 to 25 songs, it doesn’t work. Talking to the label [it’s like], ‘Oh, if you have less songs, you’re not going to stream as much,’ but the whole
Earlier this month, Malone’s manager Dre London claimed Republic Records has been delaying its release due to its relative brevity. The allegedly 45-minute project will be the shortest LP Post has ever released if it remains as is, and he told Billboard the label wanted it to be longer to boost its streaming numbers.
Salute to Post Malone for sticking to his guns. Earlier this month, Post Malone’s manager, Dre London, teased how the album was being held back by his label. “Our sync & energy always on a Insane level,” London said. “Album has been done!! We Ready!! But seems @republicrecords @universalmusicgroup isn’t Posty fans no more need to press me anymore we did our part!”
The music video was directed by Cole Bennett of Lyrical Lemonade. On November 5, Malone released “One Night Now” with the Weeknd, as the lead single from his upcoming fourth studio album. On January 26, 2022, during his cover story will Billboard, Malone revealed that his fourth studio album would be titled Twelve Carat Toothache.
Although he kicked off his music career in 2013, Post Malone grew to popularity in 2015 with his easy hip-hop single White Iverson. His debut album Stoney, released in 2016, has notable hits like Congratulations featuring Quavo, Deja Vu featuring Justin Bieber and Broken Whiskey Glass. His second album Beerbongs & Bentleys scored him an Album of the Year nomination at the 2018 Grammy Awards. The six-time Grammy nominee has received several accolades in his career including three American Music Awards and 10 Billboard Awards.
For the 26-year-old superstar, who often stays up until 10 a.m. playing video games when he’s not on the road, this is normal. Three years ago, when Post moved from Los Angeles to his near-seven-acre mountainside sanctuary in Utah, his inner circle was hoping he would enjoy this kind of peace. His infectiously positive father, Rich Post, says the move “was a big sigh of relief for the parental figures,” while co-manager Dre London, an Olympic-level multitasker who has been with Post since day one, calls it “the best thing for him — he can have a life.”
