One clerk was happy to see one of his favorite rappers come in, but it wasn’t him.
Fans of hip hop have said that as time goes on, artists are starting to look more and more alike. Even if Nicki Minaj and Trina look or dress a little bit alike, it would be hard to mix them up. But, according to the “Seeing Green” rapper, that is exactly what happened to her when she went shopping. In a video, Minaj talks about what she says happened to her this morning (August 3) with an excited fan.
“Y’all, I just got back from this meeting, right? “And because, like, I asked the driver to drop me off at this store on the way home,” Minaj said. Once inside, she said she picked out a few things and said, “I looked exactly like this,” but when she got to the cash register, things got awkward.
“The guy at the register looked at me like he didn’t want to kind of, like, blow my cover, because there were other people waiting right behind me in the store,” the rapper said. “So, I lean in because it’s clear that he’s trying to tell me something and I don’t want to talk to you. So he goes, and he was so serious but also so excited, so I was like, “Of course, global icon superstar.” I’m telling myself that it’s fine.
“He leans in and says, ‘I’ve been listening to you all day,'” Minaj explained. He was talking about someone else, though. The salesperson is said to have said that his favorite song was “the one with Trick Daddy,” which means that he probably thought that Minaj was Trina. The two women don’t look anything alike, but everyone has to start somewhere.
