American singer-songwriter and record producer from Easton, Maryland, Maggie Rogers unreleased new song “Anywhere With You” off her second album, Surrender.
The song will be the third taste of the LP, which will come out after 2019’s Heard It In A Past Life. It’s coming out on Thursday (July 14).
Rogers told her fans about the song on her official Discord server after the song was teased. She says that the song was written all in one day, on her second day at Real World studios. “That’s Where I Am” and “I’ve Got a Friend” were also written on the same day. She also said the following:
It was the end of the night, and the song is one of the most honest and emotional things I’ve ever written. I didn’t want to stay in the song for too long. So there is only one take of the voice. took one and then went to sleep. when I woke up the next morning, I saw that it was done. I play guitar. Tom is a bassist. came together in a very short time. I hope you like it as much as I do. It’s a very important one to me.
When “That’s Where I Am” came out, the Grammy-nominated songwriter talked about Surrender and said that many of the events on the album took place in New York. “In the stark solitude and distance of covid, it was the setting for all my claustrophobic fantasies,” she said.
“The closeness and pleasure of just staring at people you don’t know. What could happen during a night. Events that happen during your day so you don’t have to make every choice on purpose. I really wanted to be sweated on. Pour some of their beer on my shoes. Be too tall at the concert for me to see.”
Surrender will be out on Polydor Records on July 29.
