GEMS Education will offer 70 scholarships, one for each year that the Queen has reigned, as part of a new scholarship programme to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee.
The scholarships will cover the full cost of a year’s tuition, and will be awarded to students from across 43 GEMS schools.
According to a representative from GEMS Education speaking to WhichSchoolAdvisor.com, the scholarship programme will be awarded for the 2022-23 academic year and is open to students currently at GEMS schools in the UAE and Qatar, and to non-GEMS students who may wish to apply. Students of all ages can apply for the scholarship programme.
Students will apply through a letter of application highlighting the Queen’s contribution to global citizenship and how these values align with their own. They will also be asked to evidence how they have furthered these values themselves.
Sunny Varkey, Founder, GEMS Education, said:
“This new scholarship programme is our way of giving back to our community while recognising our strong bonds with the United Kingdom and the remarkable milestone of its much-loved monarch.”
British curriculum schools make up the majority of GEMS’ schools, and its students engaged in a range of activities on Thursday to mark the Platinum Jubilee, joining the celebrations taking place across the United Kingdom.
