Nigerian singer Fireboy DML has recruited British rapper 21 Savage and American rapper and songwriter for another remix of his hit song, “Peru.”
After scoring a massive hit with ‘Peru’ and the subsequent remix with Ed Sheeran, Fireboy DML is doing another remix with different set of artists this time.
The solo version of ‘Peru’ was released on 20 July 2021, through YBNL Nation, and distributed by Empire. This time, the Nigerian singer is taking help from 21 Savage and Blxst to add more fuel to the fire for the international hit which peaked at #2 on the UK singles chart.
Fireboy DML’s ‘Peru is still paraing’ as the singer is set to release a new project Peru Airlines, featuring international acts 21 Savage and Blxst.
The singer’s management outfit Empire announced the project release in a tweet on Wednesday that has received over 14.8k likes.
The solo version of “Peru” was released on 20 July 2021, through YBNL Nation, and distributed by Empire. “Peru” was written by Ivory Scott and Fireboy DML and produced by Shizzi.
However, the tweet did not specify if this project is another remix of Fireboy’s single Peru.
With his eyes set on international deals, Peru Airlines is his second time collaborating with international acts.
Last year, Fireboy released Peru Remix featuring Grammy-award winning singer Ed Sheeran. This remix offered Fireboy DML his first debut on the billboard hot 100 charts at number 79 this week.
Known for his soothing voice and love songs, Fireboy has also reached 300million+ streams on Audiomack and was presented with a plaque for this feat yesterday.
After the song garnered popularity and reached number one on the UK Afrobeats Singles Chart, Fireboy reached out to Sheeran for a remix through the founder of SB.TV, Jamal Edwards. Sheeran told The Guardian Nigeria that he received the song a week ago before its release.
On 23 December 2021, a reworked version of “Peru” was released featuring British singer Ed Sheeran.
“Peru” peaked at number two on the UK Singles Chart, and number one on UK Afrobeats Singles Chart. On 2 August, it debuted at number ten on the TurnTable Top 50.
On 4 August, the song peaked at number fourteen on the TurnTable Top 50 Airplay chart. Same day, it peaked at number five on TurnTable Top 50 streaming songs chart.
On 26 August, it peaked at number twenty-six on TurnTable TV Top songs chart. On 2 December 2021, it was named on Apple Music Top Songs of 2021, in Nigeria.
“Peru” is Fireboy’s most popular record with over 20.6 million Spotify streams as of December 2021.
