Erling Haaland won the August Premier League Player of the Month award thanks to an incredible first month at Manchester City. Following his summer transfer from Borussia Dortmund, the Norwegian attacker has already wreaked havoc in England. On the first weekend of the season, he scored an outstanding brace on the road against West Ham United to start his Man City career. The 22-year-old won a penalty kick and converted it before sealing a successful second-half attempt with a score of 2-0. Before scoring Man City’s second goal in a 3-3 tie at Newcastle United, Haaland provided an assist in a quiet outing against Bournemouth.
But Haaland really excelled in the champions’ last two Premier League games of the month. In a 4-2 comeback victory over Crystal Palace, while Man City were behind 2-0, Haaland scored three of their four goals, recording his first hat-trick in English football. Days later, Haaland notched his second hat-trick for Man City, contributing to their 6-0 thrashing of Nottingham Forest on the last day of August. Haaland’s scorching run has continued into September with goals against Aston Villa, Sevilla, and his previous team, Borussia Dortmund. In the Premier League, he has already scored ten goals, and he has four more goals than Aleksandar Mitrovic, who is in second place.
