Eric Holder has been found guilty of killing Nipsey Hussle in the first degree.
A jury of nine women and three men decided that Eric Ronald Holder Jr. had planned to shoot the rapper when he did so on March 31, 2019, in front of Nipsey’s Marathon Clothing store with a black semiautomatic gun in one hand and a silver revolver in the other.
He was found guilty of first-degree murder, trying to kill someone on purpose, and having a gun. Kerry Lathan, who was hurt in the same attack, tried to kill him, but he was found not guilty. He had said that he wasn’t guilty. He could go to jail for the rest of his life.
Eric Holder’s lawyer said that his client didn’t mean to hurt either of the injured men, who were strangers to him, when he attacked Hussle outside of a store in the Crenshaw neighborhood, where both the rapper and his attacker grew up.
It was hard for the police to get people to talk about the case. Mr. Lathan, who was hurt in the incident, said on the witness stand, “I don’t know anything and I don’t see anything.” The prosecutor asked, “You don’t want to talk about what happened, do you?”
Mr. Lathan said, “You’re right.”
Eric Holder was attacked by more than one person in the holding cell at the jail last week. A razor was used in the attack, and the back of his head was cut, so he had to get staples.
