American singer, songwriter, and actor, Demetria Devonne Lovato unrealeased new song “SUBSTANCE” reportedly leaked online.
The singer teased a new single from their upcoming album, HOLY FVCK, on Instagram yesterday by posting the album’s cover art and a video of them singing along to the song “Substance.” In the clip, they are wearing a black sweatshirt with a zipper and not much makeup.
“I know we’re all fucked up tired. Am I crazy, or have we all gone crazy? So I have to ask myself, “Am I the only one who wants something real?” “people sing.
The big news comes just a few weeks after “Skin of My Teeth,” Lovato’s first single from the album, which she released as a nonbinary person. In the song, they talk about living with addiction and struggling with it. They seem to be talking about their overdose in 2018 when they say they escaped death and don’t know how they’re still alive.
In the first line, it says: “Demi leaves rehab again / When is this crap going to stop? Sounds like the voice in my head. I can’t believe I’m still alive.”
Their eighth studio album, HOLY FVCK, will be released on August 19.
Lovato wrote in the post’s caption, “SUBSTANCE comes out July 15th. Pre-Save Now.”
On June 9, Lovato celebrated the release of “Skin of My Teeth” in New York City’s Times Square, where a huge billboard showed a picture of them dressed in a full red latex outfit.
The singer wore black vinyl pants and a crop top with long sleeves to the launch party. On each leg of the pants, there was a picture of Sissy Spacek from Stephen King’s horror classic Carrie. They finished off the edgy look with black platform boots, silver earrings, and black vinyl gloves. Their mullet was given a “wet look,” and they chose a bold smoky eye look and a matte neutral lip.
