About Trendsetter:
Coi Leray’s first studio album, “Trendsetter,” will be released on April 8th, 2022 through Republic Records.
On Friday, October 1, 2021, a Coi fan asked her on Twitter about the progress of her future project. “Any updates on the album?” a fan asked, to which the “No More Parties” singer replied, “Na, I’m sorry.” She went on to elaborate in following postings.
“I feel that I’m ready for an album,” she wrote, “but my label doesn’t think so.” “As a result, I’m simply going with the flow.” “I despise the flow.”
In August of 2021, Coi released a new single named “Okay Yeah!” Coi was supposed to release “TRENDSETTER” on September 3, the same day Drake released “Certified Lover Boy” and days after Kanye West’s “Donda” became accessible on streaming sites. At the time, it wasn’t apparent why Coi’s project never saw the light of day, but she assured supporters that she wasn’t offended in the least.
According to Coi “I’m glad my record isn’t coming out. “Sheesh, between Drake and Kanye,” she wrote. “Everything occurs for a purpose.” This provides me with additional time to tighten up. “Perhaps you might take some notes from both of them.”
As Coi Leray revealed her reservations about releasing her album, fellow rapper and collaborator Lil Durk encouraged her not to give up on her music career.
Coi has been releasing mixtapes since 2018, but her blossoming career took off with the release of her track “No More Parties,” which became her first Billboard Hot 100 entry. She’s been the focus of fat shaming and criticism on her songs as a result of her sudden success, but with supporting musicians like Lil Durk, she hasn’t given up.
“I almost gave up one day, and he told me don’t ever quit,” Coi said, beside a photo of herself and Durk. “Most artists demonstrate love from afar on some odd trash, but this guy right here believed in me, in ‘No More Parties,’ and has been by my side ever since.” He recognizes a star when he sees one, and I just wanted to thank you for all of your help. FOREVER, OTF.”
Coi has continued to release songs after the announcement of her first album in 2021, including the viral tracks “TWINNEM” and the Nicki Minaj-assisted “Blick Blick!” On March 28, 2022, Coi posted the cover image for “TRENDSETTER” on her Instagram account.
