Climb Mt. Kilimanjaro Pirtually With Pride

When it is safe to do so, we will expand our tour schedule to include more destinations around the world. For the time being, we’re scouring the globe for the best of what the world has to offer in order to bring you the best of the best. Travel with one of our CEOs on a virtual walking tour of some of the most famous landmarks on the planet (Chief Experience Officers).

The summit of Mount Kilimanjaro is our next destination!

G Adventures CEO Said will take you on a journey from the comfort of your computer to the summit of Africa’s highest peak. There are many breathtaking views along the Machame route, and he’ll be more than happy to share his knowledge and experience with you as well. Deserts in the mountains, what a concept! Ice fields! There are ice fields! Precipices that are completely covered in ice! Enjoy an insider’s perspective on a challenging adventure like our Mt. Kilimanjaro Trek – Machame Route tour thanks to his contagious enthusiasm for the outdoors.

Take, for example, Said, whom we will examine in greater depth later. Take a look at our Q&A below to see what he had to say about his favorite local eats, drinks, and memories.

What’s your name, where are you from, and where do you go on tours these days?

It is in the Arusha Region that I live and work as a Chief Experience Officer on Mount Kilimanjaro, where I have been for the past four years.

Are there any local foods or beverages that are a must-have?

Machalari and Mbege, what a combination! The Chaga people of Mount Kilimanjaro’s slopes eat Machalari, a banana stew made from the fruit of the Chaga tree, which is a staple of their diet. Green bananas and meat are mixed together with spices and vegetables such as onions, carrots, tomatoes, green peppers, and cooking oil. Mbege, a traditional local beverage made from fermented banana and finger millet porridge, is made from a combination of these ingredients.

How about a “secret” stop on your tour that shouldn’t be missed, along with the reason for its inclusion on the itinerary?

It’s no secret that the summit is the most spectacular location on the mountain. This mountain is one of a kind because it is both the highest mountain in Africa and the highest free-standing mountain on the planet. That is, it is not a part of a larger mountain range and can be found on its own.)

If you were to meet a foreigner and give them the opportunity to describe your country, what would you want them to say?

Tanzania is home to the Kilimanjaro National Park.

How would you recommend your country’s literature to tourists who are interested in learning more about your country through books?

For those interested in learning more about our region and its many attractions, the Lonely Planet guidebook is an excellent resource (beyond what I can personally show you firsthand).

What is your favorite place to visit in the world, aside from where you currently reside?

Zanzibar is a popular tourist destination because of its reputation as a spice island.
