In a recent interview with Variety, Bobby Shmurda talked about what it was like for him to be in jail. During the conversation, the Brooklyn rapper said that some of the guards turned a blind eye to the fact that he smoked weed and had oral s*x while he was in jail.
He said, “I don’t know if it’s the riots or the s*x on the visits that are the craziest parts of being in prison. I got oral s*x, didn’t get s*x s*x. I’m too big to do all of that other stuff, do you get it?”
He continued, “Some of [the officers] wouldn’t care, they’d just shrug. Some would be like [in deep voice], ‘Ackquille Pollard! Just calm down, son! What the hell are you doing? This girl right here, both of you get the f*** out!'”
At the age of 16, Shmurda was in a mental hospital. When security wouldn’t let him leave, he tried to set the place on fire. Compared to that, he said that prison was better because “you smoke weed, get drunk on visits, and s***, you’re good.”
Bobby Shmurda said that when he was fighting with police officers during his six years in prison, he sometimes felt like he had lost.
“Every time I fought with police, that’s when I felt like I lost,” he said. “I didn’t feel defeated, but okay, I guess I did. Because I used to be on some “fuck everything” stuff when I fought the police. When I make a mistake, I want to hurt someone. Those days, yeah, I felt defeated.”
He also said, “Usually I would laugh with them. People who come up to my hole and try to mess with me would make me laugh. “Shut your sad mouth and get out of here,” he said. You crazy.’”
Bobby Shmurda also said that he kept dancing while he was in prison and taught convicted murderers to dance to a wide range of music.
“I made killers dance,” he said. “Everyone has to dance with everyone. I’ll play all kinds of music, like Spanish, pop, and Jamaican. I do everything except rock and country. I just don’t like country and rock that much. Pop, R&B, Hip Hop, jazz, I like everything.”
