Icelandic singer, songwriter, composer, record producer, and actress, Björk has released the artwork for her new song, “Atopos,” ahead of the release of her upcoming 10th album, “Fossora.”
“Atopos” will serve as the lead single off the singer’s upcoming tenth studio album, Fossora. The album is expected to be released in 2022 through One Little Independent Records.
The album will be the follow-up to 2017’s “Utopia,” according to the Icelandic singer. It will be released this fall through One Little Independent Records, although the exact date is uncertain.
The album cover for “Fossora” shows the singer as “a radiant forest fairy, her fingers blending with mushrooms under her hoof.”
Bjork shared the artwork today (August 24). It’s just below it. “I’m so psyched about Fossora,” she captioned it.
Bjork stated that the first single from “Atopos” will be released “soon.” See the list below.
The songs “Sorrowful Soil” and “Ancestress” are said to be tributes to the singer’s late mother, Hildur Rna Hauksdóttir.
“We imagined she had ten years to live,” Bjork told The Guardian. “So we yelled, ‘Come on,’ and she started fighting, and she was ready to go.”
Serpentwithfeet and Gabber Modus Operandi appear on “Fossora.” Sindri and Doa will also perform on the album.
During COVID lockdowns, Bjork claims she made the song “for folks forming clubs in their living houses.”
She described it as “a man headbanging, then sitting down for another bottle of red wine, and by 10 o’clock everyone is home, finished dancing.”
Because she moves so swiftly, most of her current tunes are between 80 and 90 bpm.
