nitta, a Brazilian singer-songwriter, has finally revealed the title and release date for her much awaited trilingual album.
Anitta has confirmed that her album Versions of Me will be released on April 12th, despite the continuous popularity of her record-breaking song “Envolver.”
After presenting the album cover, which displays many variations of the Brazilian superstar’s face, she moved to Twitter to inform fans that she would be discussing the idea more in the near future.
While the singer promises she’ll explain the reason of her album title and cover, she had hinted at it on her birthday, which was only one day before.
Anitta acknowledged that she’s undergone several cosmetic operations over the years, but on the inside, she’s still the same person she’s always been.
“All the Versions of Me,” she captioned her photo. “Even after millions of dollars in cosmetic surgery, physicians, and treatments… my insides remain the same.” Through all of the photographs everyone is sharing wishing me a happy birthday, I could see that my soul had retained all of the vital things I had inside since I was a child.”
“This is the best birthday of my life,” the celebrity concluded. Never before have I felt so loved, so whole, so content, and so pleased. Thank you for all of your kindness today. We’re still working our way through all of the messages from across the globe. I came into this world confident that I was going to change it… and couldn’t stop telling my family when I was a youngster everything that is occurring right now. Thank you, universe. It always returns to you what you manifest.”
Anitta is one of 18 Latin singers set to appear at Coachella this month.
With her album debuting only a few days before the festival’s first weekend, it seems like we won’t have to wait long to hear her new songs played live.
About Versions of Me
Versions of Me is Brazilian singer Anitta’s sixth studio album and her worldwide debut. The project, which is commercially planned by Warner Music Group, combines funk carioca with diverse genres and styles ranging from reggaetón to trap and R&B.
The album’s first official song, “Me Gusta,” is a collaboration between American rapper Cardi B and Puerto Rican rapper Myke Towers, and will be released on September 18, 2020. Anitta, however, indicated in an interview with El Heraldo on July 12, 2020, that the song will be released in August 2020.
The album’s initial title-track and second single, Girl From Rio, was released on April 29, 2021, when it was still supposed to be named that. The song is a smooth baile-funk and R&B combination that samples Antônio Carlos Jobim, better known as Tom Jobimrenowned ,’s bossa nova piece “Garota de Ipanema.”
The album’s third song, “Faking Love,” was released on October 14, 2021, in cooperation with American rapper Saweetie. The song incorporates pop, rap, and Brazilian funk.
The fourth single from the project, “Envolver,” was released on November 11, 2021.
The album’s fifth single, “Boys Don’t Cry,” was released on January 27, 2022.
Anitta went to Twitter and Instagram on April 7, 2022, to unveil the entire tracklist of the album, identifying the featured musicians and adding the release date to the captions.
The record, according to Rolling Stone, “would be a new combination of both Spanish and English.”
