Brazilian singer and songwriter, Anitta unrleased song titled “Gata” with Chencho Corleone off her upcoming album project Versions of Me reportedly leaked online.
“Sometimes you call me when you’re too drunk, oh God/Then you start telling me I’m the one, I’m not,” she sings. “In your feelings, I can feel it/You’re in your feelings, you won’t admit it/but I thought that we were just having fun.”
The new track — which marks a pivot from a Spanish and Portuguese reggaetón sound toward English-language pop — follows a set of English tracks dropped by Anitta last year, including “Envolver,” “Faking Love” featuring Saweetie, and “Girl From Río.” In 2020, she also enlisted Myke Towers and Cardi B on banger “Me Gusta.”
Anitta released her first single in Italy with Fred de Palma, “Paloma” in August 2020. The song became one of the most shamaz’ed songs of the month in the country. In August 2020 she was also featured on WC No Beat’s album on a track called “Cena de Novela” alongside Djonga & PK and also featured on the trap song “Tá Com o Papato” of Papatinho with Dfideliz & BIN.
On September 18, 2020, Anitta started a new era in her international career, launching “Me Gusta”, in partnership with Cardi B and Myke Towers. The song reached 17th position on the iTunes chart in the United States. On 3 January 2022, it was announced that Anitta had signed a worldwide publishing agreement with Sony Music Publishing.
About Versions of Me
After presenting the album cover, which displays many variations of the Brazilian superstar’s face, she moved to Twitter to inform fans that she would be discussing the idea more in the near future.
While the singer promises she’ll explain the reason of her album title and cover, she had hinted at it on her birthday, which was only one day before.
Anitta acknowledged that she’s undergone several cosmetic operations over the years, but on the inside, she’s still the same person she’s always been.
“All the Versions of Me,” she captioned her photo. “Even after millions of dollars in cosmetic surgery, physicians, and treatments… my insides remain the same.” Through all of the photographs everyone is sharing wishing me a happy birthday, I could see that my soul had retained all of the vital things I had inside since I was a child.”
Versions of Me is Brazilian singer Anitta’s sixth studio album and her worldwide debut. The project, which is commercially planned by Warner Music Group, combines funk carioca with diverse genres and styles ranging from reggaetón to trap and R&B.
The album’s first official song, “Me Gusta,” is a collaboration between American rapper Cardi B and Puerto Rican rapper Myke Towers, and will be released on September 18, 2020. Anitta, however, indicated in an interview with El Heraldo on July 12, 2020, that the song will be released in August 2020.
The album’s initial title-track and second single, Girl From Rio, was released on April 29, 2021, when it was still supposed to be named that. The song is a smooth baile-funk and R&B combination that samples Antônio Carlos Jobim, better known as Tom Jobimrenowned ,’s bossa nova piece “Garota de Ipanema.”
