Paper Girls Series canceled by Amazon after 1 season

Amazon Prime Video has canceled the highly regarded show Paper Girls after one season.
The streamer decided not to order a second season of the science fiction program, which is based on the comic book series of the same name. The announcement was released after the first eight episodes of the popular show, which was well-received by both critics and fans, aired in July.
The 1980s drama Paper Girls centers on four paper delivery girls who become embroiled in a conflict between time travelers. The team has to work to preserve the world while on a quest through time. The small-screen project also stars comedian Ali Wong and rising stars Sofia Rosinksy, Camryn Jones, Riley Lai Nelet, and Fina Strazza.
Brian K. Vaughan and Cliff Chiang, who co-created the comic book series and expanded it to 30 issues, discussed their motivation for it with EW in June.
When I was around 12, all of the paper boys in our community, where I was raised in the Cleveland suburbs, were suddenly replaced by paper girls, according to Vaughan. The fact that these 12-year-old kids were leaving their homes at 4 in the morning to inform grownups of bad news just struck me as being so badass. The fact that they were newspaper delivery kids—a kind of endangered species—and the first of their kind was just so intriguing and engaging. I thought, “What a fascinating collection of young girls.” They would make an excellent story’s climax. “So, it began with that motivation and grew from there.”
